Bye Bye GUC

On Saturday eglug organized an Installfest. The event was a success, despite the problems eglug organizers had with the GUC people. Our eglug volunteers made a great effort and everyone was great. But personally I will not volunteer for any event in the GUC again for the following reasons:

1- For some reason every GUC worker or employee thinks that they are doing us a favor by letting us organize this event at the university. They need to understand that we're the ones doing them a favor not the other way around. I'm a volunteer and I sacrificed my time to help them. We as volunteers could have invested this time in our personal life or even in serving floss in some other way. So I wanna be spoken to in a polite manner not like I'm a slave begging to get into the land of the free.

2- We were insulted more than once, a GUC student insulted Ahmed Omran (Bassist) and because Ahmed was polite he didn't respond in the same manner, the guy's exact words in Arabic were “روح لف لك لفه و شوف لي البتاع ده من اي حد كده". That among other things been said to me personally from this student and other students and GUC staff members. Again people at the GUC think of us as workers hired by the GUC.

We've worked with other organizations before and we didn't have those problems. And now the only polite person I met in the GUC Motaz wants to talk to us about GNU/Linux courses we will give to the GUC students which by the way won't be for public which is not acceptable at least by me.

So thats the end of the line for me in the GUC. Let other eglug members take that shit if they want :)

That is horrible!

Hi , Actually I am a GUC student and i wanted to be present in this very nice and useful event.

I am really very sorry for what you are saying, and you are completely right in what you said.

I just wanted to tell you that I will publish your article on my blog, which I think is read by some GUCians, and may be they could figure out your opinion!

Thank you!

Thanks Hussein

I met lots of nice people too and some of them were very thankfull and polite. I know that where ever we'll go we can find unpolite people but my problem with the GUC is the predefined image some people there have about us which is wrong and the amount of people with this image. I'm really sorry you couldn't make it to the fest. Overall it was a nice day and it would have been nicer with one more attendee :)

See you on the blogosphere :)

GREAT

The event would have been meaningless with out you bro , you kick major ass.I am proud to have you as a close friend for a very long time now.

About the GUC people , some of them were really rude while others were really helping.Just like anywhere else , so chillout dude .. We NEED you :)

DUK

They paid lots of money to get into a *UC, so they think you work for them.

Can anybody please explain to me why on earth would a German university's name be in English!! If it weren't just a market stunt, I mean.

Hi, My name is mohamed and

Hi, My name is mohamed and I'm a GUC student..

I'm realy sorry about the way u have been treated at the uinversity, but I will be be very gald if u just let it go for that time :),,

alot of students are realy unpolite and just act as if they hired every other one to serve them and to do them things that in my opinion do not deserve even

The next time u come , prepare a coures entiteled " to be polite is a big deal" or " Learn how to respect others" :),,

again we are very sorry :)
